Well, we've been deep, deep in the throes of moving, unpacking, assembling IKEA furniture, cleaning out the old apartment, assembling more IKEA furniture...ugh. Can I just say how much I hate moving?

After saying goodbye to our old place with a final swim in the pool,
we spent most of the holiday weekend not only indoors, but down in a windowless basement (aka: the kids' bedroom). They have no closet down there (or more accurately, mom has taken over what could be used as their closet for her own walk-in closet), so we needed to get several pieces from IKEA to use as a closet and storage space for their clothes and toys. Luckily, the weather cooperated with us and rained all weekend so we didn't have to feel bad about wasting our Labor Day weekend indoors.
The highlight of the weekend though was seeing Ella's musical that she's been working on for two weeks.
"Perfectly Happy" was perfectly delightful. She did such a great job singing and dancing and more importantly, she was having the time of her life. There was a huge grin on her face the entire night. They wrote the entire script and song lyrics, created the set and costumes and learned about acting, singing and dancing. We're so proud of her and she's obviously been bitten by the bug.

This morning we were able to enjoy our first breakfast in our backyard before it started raining:

OMgosh! Please tell Ella I loved the musical video. Wish we could have all been there to share this with you. The new digs look great Gretchen. I have been meaning to tell you something about the construction of your new place. We were watching a Huell Howser Road Trip to the town of Fillmore, down in Southern CA, a beautiful agricultural valley surrounded by mountains from which were quarried, in the late 1800's early 1900's, the famous brown stone which was then shipped to New York and Pennsylvania for their Brownstone Houses!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting, yes? Thought you'd get a kick out of that bit of info. The fire danger is gone from our area as of yesterday, evacs all cancelled, just dealing with the daily smoke.
